Please join the GJLA at our monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month. We meet at the Somerset Trust Company Community Room at 116 Market St. in Johnstown at 7:00 pm.
As you may have heard, the City of Johnstown is has passed another registration and inspection ordinance. Some of the highlights are mandatory inspections, fees, fire extinguishers and inspections that can be triggered by a neighbor's complaints.
The GJLA continues to discuss this matter with City officials. We hope to find a compromise that allows the City to minimize blight without imposing fees and regulations on landlords who are providing safe, decent housing in difficult economic times.
In 2007 the City passed another registration ordinance. The GJLA helped to write it and it seems reasonable. You can see it here.
Let us know if you would like to learn more. We welcome comments from non-members.
Westmont Borough and Dale Borough have also passed similar ordinances
