The City of Johnstown, Westmont and Dale have passed a comprehensive registration and inspection ordinance.
In the City, there is no fee to register before July 1st.
Mandatory inspections of all rental units and a $75 inspection fee are part of the City ordinance. The administration of the City has been instructed to inspect unregistered and properties with code violations first, however this policy is not written in the ordinance itself.
Westmont repealed their ordinance and paid money to settle a lawsuit brought by two landlords and supported by the GJLA.
This ordinance is complicated and you should be informed before registering and having your properties inspected. The GJLA closely follows the implementation of the ordinances.
